Student mental health the topic of Critical Issues Forum

The Department of Educational Administration’s sixth annual Critical Issues Forum will focus on the mental health needs of students.

The forum, “Healthy Minds, Healthy Communities: Understanding and Addressing the Mental Health Needs of Students” is slated for Feb. 25 at Southeast Community College from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Issues discussed will include mental health and education and how stress, anxiety, depression and suicide are affecting students in educational systems. Researchers, school leader, and community service agencies will provide presentations and resources related to mental health and its impact on students and schools.

The forum is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Elementary and secondary school teachers and administrators, higher education faculty, graduate students, and administrators and human service agencies related to mental health and education are encouraged to attend.
