KOLN/KGIN-TV is accepting applications for a full-time VJ/Anchor/Producer in the Grand Island Newsroom. The VJ/Anchor/Producer is responsible for reporting, shooting/editing video, anchoring, producing, general news gathering and news presentation across various media channels. The successful candidate is responsible for enterprising and producing accurate, relevant and timely news coverage for online and on-air audiences with emphasis on visual presentation. This position involves strong on-air presence, solid news judgment, technical skills, a sense of urgency, and competence to work as a self-sufficient video journalist.

Duties include, but are not limited to: News coverage responsibilities for all available media, knowledge of the community, story idea generation, anchoring newscasts and live news coverage as assigned, producing newscasts and/or stories as assigned, fact gathering, attribution, writing, video recording & editing, objectivity, interviewing, story/topic research, story set-up, driving, transporting equipment and using it for news coverage, computer/internet ability, typing ability, competence with various news gathering tools, appear at promotional functions, operate news equipment in a safe, professional manner, support news promotion, and perform additional duties as assigned. These duties apply to all of our media platforms.

Qualifications include: Broadcast journalism experience, Media-related bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience in
journalism, solid ability to cover news independently, able to gather quality video/audio, edit, write and report accurately and creatively under deadline pressure. Leadership skills, exceptional news judgment and professional knowledge of news operations are required, along with ability to communicate live on-screen in a professional manner for all of our media channels. The ability to type and operate newsroom computers and other news gathering equipment in an above average capacity, excellent people skills when dealing with co-workers and the public, a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record are requirements. Position would require permanent residence in Hall County.
