UNL’s expertise in terrorism and threat assessment includes the Targeted Violence Research Team, led by psychology professor Mario Scalora. He collaborates with state and federal agencies dealing with threat management and counterterrorism issues. He also has studied workplace violence.

Scalora’s research addresses targeted violence, including threat assessment, terrorism and extremist violence, sexual offenses and workplace violence. He collaborates with state and federal agencies dealing with threat management and counterterrorism. He teaches courses on forensic assessment, personality assessment and the psychology of terrorism.
