Education Educator F. John Hay of the Department of Biological Systems Engineering, specializes in energy, renewable energy and biofuels. He teaches about small wind turbines and solar energy systems for home, farm and business. He teaches about utility-scale solar issues of interest to Nebraska landowners and communities. Hay is expanding his educational program to include agrivoltaics (agriculture combined with solar energy, such as grazing sheep beneath solar arrays). He installed a solar photovoltaic array at his home in 2017 and has held multiple hands-on workshops to teach others about solar design, installation and economic calculations for solar energy systems.
