Fred Luthans is a University and George Holmes Distinguished Professor of Management, emeritus. Luthans has edited three top journals and authored several well-known books and over 250 academic articles and chapters. Professor Luthans’ research at first focused on what he termed O.B. Mod. (organizational behavior modification) and successful and effective managerial behavior (Real Managers). He has focused on the theory-building, measurement, research and application of what he founded and has termed “positive organizational behavior (POB)”and “psychological capital (PsyCap)”, a multi-dimensional core construct consisting of the positive psychological resources of hope, efficacy (confidence), resilience, and optimism or the HERO Within.
