UNL is home to the Food Processing Center, providing a combination of consulting, educational, technical and business development services to the food industry, and the Food Innovation Center, a 178,000 square foot complex serving public-private partnerships. The innovation center provides world-class facilities for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Food Science and Technology Department as well as private companies in leased space. It offers wet/dry research laboratories, food grade/non-food grade pilot plant space, a state-of-the-art distance education classroom and office space. (Updated November 2024)
Bio
Curtis Weller, a biological systems engineering professor, teaches about food and process engineering and the physical properties of food and bioproducts. He is a former head of UNL’s Department of Food Science and Technology and maintains collaborations with others in the food and biomaterials activities of the Food Processing Center.
