University of Nebraska-Lincoln Student Support Services and the Office of Academic Support and Intercultural Services are offering, “The Courage to Persist,” a workshop on perseverance, 12:30 to 2 p.m. April 6 in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center, Ubuntu Room.
The event is designed to assist students with non-cognitive development, but is free and open to the public.
Deena Curtis, diversity and community outreach counselor, will offer an introductory perspective on perseverance. Then, Mitchell Strong Jr., professional athlete and coach, will share critical insights into self-discipline and tenacity.
Strong’s story will illuminate that life challenges do not have to become permanent roadblocks to success. They can develop into positive opportunities for growth and the courage to persist.
