The documentary “Who Will Write Our History,” which follows a group of Jewish writers during World War II, opens April 26 at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.
The Oyneg Shabes were a secret group of journalists, scholars and community leaders who formed shortly after November 1940, when Nazi soldiers imprisoned them in the Warsaw Ghetto. Group members vowed to archive what happened to them, using truth as a weapon during the war.
The film features writings of the Oyneg Shabes, interviews, footage from the war and acted dramatizations to tell the courageous story of the group.
“Who Will Write Our History” shows through May 2.
