A memorial service for David Swanson, former director of the Holland Computing Center, will be Sept. 1 during the Open Science Grid organization’s virtual all-hands meeting.
University of Nebraska-Lincoln colleagues are invited to join the meeting from 10:40 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for Swanson’s memorial. Information is available on the Open Science Grid website. Video connection information is available only to those registered.
Swanson, former research professor of computer science and engineering, was director of the Holland Computing Center from 2005 to 2019. In addition to his HCC leadership role and significant contributions to high- performance computing, Swanson was an active member of the Open Science Grid professional organization. The group established a grant program in Swanson’s memory to support students traveling to Open Science Grid all-hands meetings to present their research. The first David Swanson travel grants will be awarded at the Aug. 31 to Sept. 4 event, which is hosted by the University of Oklahoma.
