The university’s next Big Red Talk will feature 2011 alumnus Reid DeSpiegelaere sharing how his Nebraska experience led him to pursue his passions. The talk is 7 p.m. April 10 in the Willa Cather Dining Complex, Red Cloud A.
DeSpiegelaere is the national director of Vello, an innovative startup venture from Valley of the Sun United Way in Phoenix, Arizona. Vello is online tutoring for the 21st century, leveraging technology and web applications to mobilize virtual volunteers for local literacy impact across the country.
During his time at Nebraska, DeSpiegelaere played tenor saxophone in the Cornhusker Marching Band, led New Student Enrollment as an orientation leader, coordinated Big Red Welcome and more. In the Big Red Talk, he will share how skills gained from extracurricular involvements provided relevant experiences to help him become successful in his work in the non-profit world.
The event is free and open to the public. A dessert reception will follow the talk.
