Every year, international students from more than 100 countries bring unique perspectives that enrich our campus community. As they adapt to the United States and its academic environment, these students often encounter notable challenges, making it essential for instructors and staff to understand how to best support their success in the classroom.
Since spring 2023, the International Student and Scholar Office and the Center for Transformative Teaching have partnered to offer collaborative sessions that bring together University of Nebraska–Lincoln faculty and staff who work with international students across campus. These workshops provide practical strategies for clearer teaching, equitable assessments, and stronger student support systems, helping instructors better support international students and strengthen success for all learners.
The remaining spring 2026 workshops will be offered via Zoom:
- Designing Fair and Inclusive Assessments Across Cultures is 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. March 10. The workshop will cover strategies for inclusive assessments that reduce cultural bias, improve clarity and support academic integrity and student confidence.
- Navigating Uncertainty: Supporting International Students Through Program and Policy Changes is 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. April 14 and will give guidance on how program closures and visa changes can affect students’ stability and progress, plus strategies for proactive communication and referral.
