UC Davis researcher to speak at Food Innovation Center

Bruce German, director of the Foods for Health Institute at the University of California, Davis will deliver a lecture on lactation at 4 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Food Innovation Center, Room 277.

The talk, “What Lactation is Teaching Us About Diet and Health,” is free and open to the public.

German is a pioneer in the field of understanding how foods can improve health. In particular, his research focuses on milk and lactation. In his research, he utilizes diverse approaches to identify mechanisms of action, consequences to long-term health compared to other nutritional options and educational approaches to encourage breast-feeding.

German is also a key member of the UC Davis Milk Bioactives Program and the Mothers and Infants Microbiome Cohort. The programs have led to the emergence of a world-renown Foods for Health program at UC Davis, for which German serves as the Director. This institute operates with the broad mandate of establishing the targets and mechanisms of personalizing diet and health.
