A widower embarks on an emotional journey to find his first love in the romantic drama "Touch," which opens Aug. 30 at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. Also opening is "Widow Clicquot."
Based on the Icelandic best-selling novel, "Touch" is a romantic and thrilling story that spans several decades and continents, following one widower’s emotional journey to find his first love who disappeared 50 years ago, before his time runs out.
"Touch" is rated R and is showing through Sept. 5.
"Widow Clicquot" is based on the true story of the “Grande Dame of Champagne,” Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin (1777–1866) who, at the age of 20, became Madame Clicquot after marrying the scion of a winemaking family.
Though their marriage was arranged, a timeless love blossomed between Barbe-Nicole and her unconventional, erratic husband, François. After her husband’s untimely death, Barbe-Nicole flouts convention by assuming the reins of the fledgling wine business they had nurtured together. Steering the company through dizzying political and financial reversals, she defies her critics and revolutionizes the champagne industry to become one of the world’s first great entrepreneurs.
"Widow Clicquot" is rated R and is showing through Sept. 12.
