“The Wife,” a drama that follows the journey of a husband and wife over the course of their 40-year marriage, opens Sept. 14 at Nebraska’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.
The film stars Glenn Close and Jonathan Pryce as Joan and Joe Castleman, a couple that has spent the course of their relationship dedicated to Joe’s enormous success as an author. Since Joe’s initial literary popularity in the 1950s, Joan has poured her intellect, grace, charm and diplomacy into being his wife — a role that reaches a breaking point on the couples’ trip to Stockholm for Joe’s nomination for the Nobel Prize for Literature.
“The Wife” is rated R for language and some sexual content. It plays through Sept. 27.
Continuing at the Ross are “The Bookshop”, which plays through Sept. 20, and “Juliet, Naked”, which ends Sept. 13.
