“Tempest Storm” and “The Salesman” are opening at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center April 21.

Tempest Storm” explores the controversial life story of America’s oldest and most iconic exotic dancer. Tempest Storm was mistress to both Elvis and John F. Kennedy, and became an international star on the stage and screen in the 1950s.

Director Nimisha Mukerji and burlesque star Tempest Storm will appear at the 7:30 p.m. opening night screening of the documentary for a question and answer session with the audience.

This documentary looks at her dramatic rise to fame as an exotic dancer and her swift fall from grace after pursuing an interracial marriage. The film shows her at the age of 85 as she continues to perform in Las Vegas. The audience watches her final and most important act: reconciling with her daughter Patricia, from whom she has been estranged for 50 years.

“Tempest Storm” will show at the Ross through April 27.

The Salesman,” Asghar Farhadi’s Academy Award-winning film, is a story of a young Iranian couple who move to the center of Tehran after being forced out of their previous home due to dangerous construction.

Eventually, an incident linked to the previous tenant of their new home dramatically changes the couple’s life.

“The Salesman,” which is rated PG-13 for mature thematic elements and a brief bloody image, shows at the Ross through May 4.
