The 72nd Nebraska Symposium on Motivation will be held in the Nebraska Union's Swanson Auditorium April 16-17. The symposium will explore the "Psychology of Performance Optimization in Collegiate Athletes." It is being organized by Aron K. Barbey, professor of psychology, and Douglas Schultz, research assistant professor in the Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior.

Collegiate athletics presents a unique opportunity for personal growth and development, cultivating lifelong physical, mental and social skills that transcend the playing field. However, the rigorous demands of collegiate sports can also pose challenges to an athlete’s overall health, well-being and performance. Recognizing the pivotal role of psychology for enabling athletic success, this symposium investigates the psychological underpinnings of athletic achievement, examining evidence-based interventions that empower student-athletes to thrive both on and off the field.

The symposium will feature presentations from eight leading experts in the area of mild traumatic brain injury and performance optimization factors. For more information, visit the symposium's website.
