Some 300 first-year students and 48 mentors from the Center for Academic Success and Transition celebrate in a group photo at the end of their four-day camp on Aug. 22. The throng is among the thousands of Husker being welcomed to campus as the start of the fall semester nears.

The university's CAST team works to connect with and support students in and out of the classroom. The team provides academic and transition coaching, peer mentors, and interactive workshops, all intended at increasing student retention and graduation rates at UNL. Learn more about CAST.

  • The university’s chapter of Phi Tau Sigma recently received three national honors. Phi Tau Sigman is a national honor society for food science and technology. Honors received by the UNL chapter include the Dr. S. Suzanne Nielsen Chapter Program Award; the Phi Tau Sigma Outstanding Chapter of the Year award; and the Chapter of Excellence (2022-23).   • The Nuffield Global Scholars toured Nebraska Innovation Campus on Aug. 21. The group learned about multiple units at Innovation Campus, including the university’s partnership with The Combine, a statewide initiative to offer start-up support to entrepreneurs in the food and agriculture-tech sector.
