“I Carry You with Me,” a love story that spans decades, opens July 16 at Nebraska’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.
Continuing to show is “Truman and Tennessee: An Intimate Conversation.”
Based on a true story, “I Carry You with Me” follows the romance between an aspiring chef (played by Armando Espitia) and a teacher (Christian Vázquez). Their lives restart in incredible ways as societal pressure propels them to embark on a treacherous journey to New York City with dreams, hopes and memories in tow.
A feature debut by director Heidi Ewing, “I Carry You with Me” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 26, 2020, winning both the NEXT Innovator and Audience awards. The film, which is rated R for language and brief nudity, shows through July 29.
“Truman and Tennessee: An Intimate Conversation” is a dual-portrait documentary featuring iconic American artists Truman Capote and Tennessee Williams. In the movie, filmmaker Lisa Immordino Vreeland showcases the loves, fears and artistic achievements of Capote and Williams. The production includes an array of archival materials, film clips and vibrant voiceover work from Jim Parsons and Zachary Quinto as Capote and Williams, respectively.
The film celebrates the duo’s sometimes tumultuous friendship through the ages, and how their queer identity informed their artistic achievements and relationships.
“Truman and Tennessee,” which is not rated, shows through July 22.
