Nebraska students are hosting a fundraiser Oct. 29 for the family of Randy Gibson.
Gibson, 52, a prominent member of Lincoln’s cycling community, was hit and killed by a drunk driver while on a bicycle ride in Lincoln in September.
The fundraiser is part of an experiential learning component for students in an Introduction to Wellness Programming (FITN 151) course. The fundraiser is hosted by Campus Recreation.
Two time slots will be offered at the Campus Recreation Center, which is on City Campus. The timeslots are 5 to 5:30 p.m. and 5:45 to 6:15 p.m. Each time slot has 19 bikes available.
To reserve a bike, make a $20 donation to Randy’s GoFundMe and post a screenshot of the donation on the Facebook event page with the timeslot of the reservation. Participants will receive a bike number as confirmation.
The day of the event, check in at the front desk of Campus Recreation 15 minutes before the scheduled ride time.
This event is open to the public. All participants will be asked to sign a waiver.
Individuals who cannot attend but would like to give a donation can do so through the family’s GoFundMe page.
