Student groups featured in Sustainability Kickoff

Vivian Nguyen (left) and Cale Brodersen examine worms that turn food waste into compost. The university will hold a summit of student groups dedicated to sustainability on Aug. 23.

Sustain UNL is holding a Sustainability Kickoff at 6 p.m. Aug. 23 on the plaza north of the Nebraska Union.

Offered for the first time, the event will feature information about and how to get involved with sustainable-thinking student organizations. Free food will also be offered.

Sustain UNL is a student club that provides awareness of and action in sustainability-related activities at Nebraska. The club takes part in sustainability activities and partners with other organizations and companies to create green programs.

Organizations that will participate in the Sustainability Kickoff include Sustain UNL, the Office of Sustainability, the environmental studies program, Alumin8, UNL Student Organic Farm, Bike UNL, Nebraska Recycling and the Environmental Leadership Program.
