The University of Nebraska–Lincoln will celebrate the excellence of its student-athletes during “A Night at the Lied” on April 24.
Hosted by the Academic and Life Skills departments, the 32nd annual event honors Huskers for excellence in academics, athletics, community service and leadership. The in-person celebration is free and open to the campus community.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for a red-carpet reception with hors d’oeuvres and dessert selections. Seating begins at 7 p.m. with the program starting at 7:30 p.m.
Honors being presented include:
Best Athlete to one female and one male student-athlete for outstanding athletic performance over the course of the past year;
Outstanding Scholar Award to five Huskers who are at the end of their college careers and hold a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.9 or better; and
Heart and Soul Awards reserved for student-athletes who exhibit the highest level of commitment to leadership, service and mentorship during their time as a Husker.
Other awards to be presented include Outstanding Newcomer, Herman Team GPA Award, Sam Foltz Hero 27 Leadership Award, Tom Osborne Citizenship Team Medallions, and Academic Medallions.
The ceremony will close with the awarding of the 2022 female and male Student-Athletes of the Year. These recipients, selected by the Faculty Senate Intercollegiate Athletic Committee, will also be Nebraska’s recipients of the Big Ten Medal of Honor.
