The University of Nebraska–Lincoln will participate in a statewide tornado drill conducted by the National Weather Service on March 27.
As long as no actual severe weather is occurring or expected, the drill will begin at 10 a.m.
The test warning will be sent through all communication channels normally used for severe weather alerts, including: public alert/weather radios; outdoor warning sirens; indoor voice amplification systems; and UNL Alert, the university’s mass notification system. All messages will be identified as being part of the drill. Nebraska students, faculty and staff are asked to participate and familiarize themselves with the locations of designated shelters and with tornado warning procedures.
Information about tornado procedures and related policies are available online. Register for UNL Alert here.
