Chancellor Ronnie Green watches as a video of the UNL Jazz Singers plays at the start of the State of Our University address on Feb. 15.
The virtual choir video — recorded in September after four days of practice — was among the first classroom innovations that allowed the university to safely hold courses in the fall during the COVID-19 pandemic. The choir is directed by David von Kampen, a lecturer in the Glekk Korff School of Music.
The video, featuring Sara Jarosz's "Orange and Blue," opened Green's State of Our University address. In the speech, Green outlined how the university maintained positive momentum and growth through a period dominated by the pandemic, civil unrest and budgetary shifts. Green also outlined plans to build upon the N2025 strategic plan and seven Grand Challenges to spur future research and creative activity on campus.
In case you missed it, Green's entire address is available here in text and video formats.
