The University Health Center is offering many services to faculty and staff at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
The health center recently relocated to a new 107,000-square-foot complex at 550 N. 19th St. The facility is home to both the health center and University of Nebraska Medical Center’s College of Nursing — Lincoln Division. The university celebrated its opening on July 10.
"We're excited that our new, state-of-the-art health center building allows us to offer high quality care to the entire campus community, including faculty and staff," said Jill Lynch-Sosa, student health operations director.
Services available to faculty and staff include pharmacy, dental, physical therapy, nutrition, immunizations, travel clinic, allergy, optometry, lab tests/wellness profiles, radiology and blood pressure checks.
Pharmacy services are available to the dependents of faculty and staff. And, spouses and children 16 and older are eligible to visit the dental clinic.
Other services, including the medical clinic and Counseling and Psychological Services, are only accepting student appointments at this time.
Services that are most popular among faculty and staff include pharmacy, physical therapy and the dental clinic.
The University Health Center’s new physical therapy space includes a warm-water SwimEx therapy pool and gymnasium designed to help patients increase range of motion and strength. An adjoining gym includes an expanded capacity for treatment equipment, a turf strip for simulated running, and private patient rooms.
The physical therapy area is on the main floor of the health center, an upgrade from the previous location which in a lower level and required the use of an elevator.
Pharmacy services are available on the first level of the new facility, directly inside the west entrance. The location enhances privacy of users and is conveniently located away from patient waiting areas.
The dental clinic more than doubled the number of exam rooms available in the new building. Dental services are operated by Nebraska Medicine.
The University Health Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays during the summer. Service hours do vary by department. Appointments — for services other than dental — can be made by calling 402-472-5000. Dental appointments are available by calling 402-472-7495.
