Monique Snowden, a member of The Registry, an organization that places highly qualified, veteran executives in college and university interim leadership assignments, has been named interim associate vice chancellor of enrollment management.
The special appointment was announced Aug. 27 by Katherine Ankerson, executive vice chancellor, and is effective Sept. 3, pending approval by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.
“Monique has served in higher education leadership for nearly three decades and brings strong expertise in advancing the strategic assessment, implementation, and utilization of technology and analytics to improve and sustain higher education operational and enrollment success,” said Ankerson.
“She will work to continue the great momentum we have within ASEM and help us prepare to attract a diverse and talented pool of candidates when we begin our national search to fill this position permanently.”
Previously, Snowden has served as senior vice chancellor for strategic enrollment and student success at the University of Colorado Denver; provost and senior vice president, vice president for institutional planning and effectiveness, and inaugural associate provost for enrollment management at Fielding Graduate University; assistant dean of enrollment management at Northwestern University School of Professional Studies; and held various administrator positions in admissions, financial aid and scholarships, enrollment research, and enterprise enrollment technologies at Texas A&M University.
Snowden is a founding editorial board member of Strategic Enrollment Management Quarterly Journal, and currently serves on the editorial boards for College and University journal and NACADA Journal. She is a former commissioner for the WASC Senior College and University Commission and continues to serve as an institutional reviewer for the accrediting agency in the domains of enrollment management, student success, learning outcomes assessment, and institutional effectiveness. She is former vice president for access and equity on the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers board of directors and a 2015 - 2016 American Council on Education Fellow, hosted by California State Polytechnic University Pomona and EDUCAUSE.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in business analysis, Master of Science in management information systems, and a doctoral degree in communication, all from Texas A&M.
James Volkmer held the position of interim associate vice chancellor for academic services and enrollment management alongside his permanent position of assistant vice chancellor of budget, planning and analytics in the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor. During his two years as interim, he had many notable accomplishments including overhauling the university’s enrollment marketing strategy; integrating sophisticated CRM recruitment and retention support; filling three key director positions for Enrollment Marketing and Strategic Enrollment Initiatives, Admissions, and Nebraska College Preparatory Academy; and initiating important renovations to the Van Brunt Visitors Center.
