Their work was part of a broader response in which 146 University of Nebraska–Lincoln building systems maintenance and custodial team members addressed storm impacts in more than 50 buildings after overnight storms July 27-28 dropped an estimated 2 to 3 inches of rain across Lincoln. While most buildings required only drying equipment and routine cleanup, Morrill Hall required more extensive remediation after water and debris entered the museum's first floor. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of university facilities, custodial, museum and restoration crews, exhibits and murals were undamaged, youth camps continued on the building's upper floors, and the museum reopened to the public July 29 while first-floor remediation continued.
