School of Music performances this week

Jamie Reimer

Jamie Reimer

Jamie Reimer’s soprano recital program at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 18, in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Kimball Recital Hall includes three American premieres of pieces written by Robert Owens in the last years of his life.

The program is also scheduled between and the 10th anniversary of Reimer and Owens first performance together on the Kimball Hall stage, Sept. 17, and what would have been his 93rd birthday, Sept. 19.

Stacie Haneline, collaborative pianist, and the Glenn Korff School of Music’s Clark Potter and Karen Becker will join her in the performance.

With a particular interest in contemporary American art song, Reimer’s research focuses on the life and work of composer Robert Owens. In 2012, she gave the world premiere of Owens’ “4 Sonnets to Eleonora Duse,” composed for her voice, and performed the role of Ursula in the North American premiere of his opera “Culture! Culture!” in 2015.

The event is free and open to the public. This performance will available online through live webcast the night of the event.
