Registration open for CYFS’ 20-year anniversary celebration

For 20 years, the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools has been committed to making a positive difference in people’s lives through research in the social, behavioral and educational sciences.

A celebration of the center's 20th anniversary will be Nov. 19. The event, "CYFS at 20: Research that Shapes the Future," will celebrate two decades of success and recognize the interdisciplinary research community that has contributed to the center’s mission since its founding in 2004. The event is 4:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Champions Club, 707 Stadium Drive. It is free and open to the public, but registration is required by Nov. 11.

The event will include a forward-thinking presentation by Mark T. Greenberg, founding director of the Edna Bennett Pierce Prevention Research Center at Penn State University. Greenberg will highlight the importance of promoting caring contexts for children, with a focus on the practical application of prevention science. His insights will spark discussion on how research collaboration and innovation can shape a brighter future for the next generation, including opportunities to expand the center's work in the next 20 years.

Event co-sponsors include the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Education and Human Sciences, Office of Research and Innovation, Office of the Chancellor, Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor, Buffett Early Childhood Institute and the NU Foundation. More information on the center’s growth and impacts in Nebraska and beyond will be shared later this fall in a special edition of its annual report.
