The Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management will be hosting its annual Spring Speaker event, along with the Design Studio Showcase. The event will start at 1:30 p.m. April 21 at the Nebraska Innovation Campus Auditorium.
This year’s Spring Speaker will feature Mehran Sahami, professor and associate chair for education in the computer science department at Stanford University. His presentation, “Expanding the Frontiers of Computer Science” will highlight some of his research interests, which include computer science education, artificial intelligence and web search.
Sahami has published more than 50 technical papers and has more than 20 patent filings on a variety of topics. He is the co-founder of the ACM Conference on Learning at Scale and is the 2014 recipient of the ACM Presidential Award. He holds a bachelor, master and doctorate in computer science from Stanford University.
In Design Studio, student teams partner with sponsoring organizations to develop real-world, software-based solutions. This year’s showcase program will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Nebraska Innovation Campus Auditorium.
At 3 p.m., guests are invited to visit with student teams and see their projects on display in the Nebraska Innovation Campus Banquet Room. Refreshments will be provided.
