The International Quilt Museum is collaborating with the Lincoln NAACP Youth Council to host a pop-up exhibition Feb. 25-26 in observance of Black History Month.
The exhibition, “Black Excellence: The Struggle Doesn’t Define Us,” will be in in the museum’s Byron and Sara Rhodes Dillow Conservation Workroom. It will feature student art from area youth and a showing of Michael Cummings’ “Slave Ship Henrietta Marie.” The exhibition will include a showing of “Get Woke,” a recent addition to the museum’s collection, by Chawne Kimber, a Black mathematician and quilt artist.
The event will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 25 and 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 26.
