A collaboration between the Bureau of Sociological Research and the University Libraries, University of Nebraska–Lincoln faculty and students have subscription access to Roper iPoll, a database of public opinion data from U.S. and international polling firms covering social issues, politics, pop culture, international affairs and more from 1935 to the present.

The database includes survey and poll questions, response data, associated reporting, methodology and transparency documentation like survey organization and sponsor information, mode and field dates, full questionnaires, related survey ephemera and more, along with tools for analysis and collaboration.

Membership in the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research at Cornell University, which publishes the Roper iPoll database, is jointly funded by the University Libraries and UNL’s Bureau of Sociological Research.

“It is good to partner with BOSR to make this a reality because this database has been on our radar for at least 4 years, but because of the lack of funding we were not able to add this valuable resource for our campus," said Associate Dean of University Libraries Charlene Maxey-Harris.

Partnerships like these allow the Libraries to bring more resources to Nebraska faculty and students.

“Roper iPoll is a welcome resource for BOSR, allowing us to archive and disseminate BOSR survey data and questionnaires to a wide audience,” said Kristen Olson, Leland J. and Dorothy H. Olson Professor in Sociology and director of BOSR. “Opening access to the entire UNL community will enhance research and teaching for faculty, staff, and students in any discipline that uses surveys, public opinion polls and election data.”

Roper iPoll is available now.
