The chancellor’s diversity commissions is offering a panel discussion on how one’s collective identities can influence attitudes about and interaction with mental health.
The discussion, “Intersectionality and Belonging: Shining a Light on Mental Health,” is 4 p.m. Dec. 2 at Sheldon Museum of Art. Registration, available here, is encouraged.
The panel features a diverse group of campus experts, who will engage the audience in a discussion about the impact gender, race/ethnicity, sexual identity, international status, and being a student-athlete have on a person’s attitudes about mental health.
The panel includes Trey Andrews, associate director of Minority Health Disparities Initiative, assistant professor of psychology and ethnic studies; Mariah Bullock, athletic psychologist; Falesa Ivory-Horton, Counseling and Psychological Services; Tierney Lorenz, Minority Health Disparities Initiative, assistant professor of psychology; and Alice Mitwaruciu, assistant director, Counseling and Psychological Services. The panel will be moderated by Marianna Burks, biology instructor and science specialist with the TRIO program.
The discussion will be livestreamed for individuals who cannot attend. Registration is required to obtain the Zoom link.
