NUtech Ventures, the university’s technology commercialization affiliate, will host a free webinar, “Open Source Software 101: The Basics,” at noon May 18. It is open to all Nebraska faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers and students.
The webinar will be led by Ameera Haider, Stephen Gardner and Dillon Durnford, attorneys at the law firm Quarles and Brady. The attorneys will present the philosophy and benefits of the open-source community and discuss common open-source licenses. They will also discuss open-source software’s effect on university technology commercialization, with real examples related to intellectual property protection and licensing to external companies.
Registration is available online. A Zoom link will be emailed to all who register by 10 a.m. the day of the webinar.
