Two new films — one a tale of infamous career criminal Forrest Tucker, the other a conversation between some of Britain’s most well-known actresses — open Oct. 19 at Nebraska’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.
The Old Man and the Gun
“The Old Man and the Gun” is the story of Tucker, a notorious career criminal who successfully escaped from prison 18 times. The film follows the string of heists he committed throughout his life, one detective’s efforts to catch him, and the woman who loved him despite his jailbreaking ways. It plays through Nov. 1.
Tea with the Dames
“Tea with the Dames” features four esteemed British actresses — Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, Eileen Atkins, and Joan Plowright — as they spend a weekend in the country together. The film is an unfiltered look at their conversations about past memories and their candid thoughts about art, aging, love, and living in the public eye. It plays through Oct. 25.
