NU system, Alumni take early lead in Combined Campaign

Love Library is illuminated during the 2019 Glow Big Red event. Buildings were not lit up this year to conserve electricity amid the rolling blackouts in the central U.S.

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s chase for the Chancellor’s Cup opened with NU system (Central Administration) and the Nebraska Alumni Association taking an early lead for overall participation.

The friendly competition is part of the university’s participation in the 2022-23 Combined Campaign for Health and Human Services. The university is a longtime participant in the community fundraiser, which continues through Nov. 11.

To encourage participation by faculty and staff, the Chancellor’s Cup will be presented to the campus divisions that record the greatest number of employees who donate.

The team competition is divided into two divisions based on unit size — large and small. The top five through the first week in each division are listed below.

Large Division

  • NU system, 24.1%
  • Research, 20.1%
  • Business and Finance, 20%
  • Academic Affairs, 14.5%
  • Arts and Sciences, 12.8%

Small Division

The leaderboards, which are updated weekly, are available here.

The annual United Way/Combined Health Agencies Drive of Nebraska campaign benefits more than 145 local agencies that assist members of the community.

“Your gift to the Combined Campaign makes a real impact on the health, education and financial stability of your neighbors. Every dollar helps people in Lincoln and Lancaster County get support, stabilize home life and move forward to lead positive, productive lives,” Chancellor Ronnie Green said. “I strongly encourage you to give what you can to make the greatest impact on the lives of your neighbors.”

Co-chairs for the university’s Combined Campaign are Sherri Jones, dean of the College of Education and Human Sciences, and Bob Wilhelm, vice chancellor for research and economic development.
