History Nebraska and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Archives and Special Collections will be celebrating American Archives Month from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 10 in Love Library South, Lower Level, Rooms 18 and 29, and at History Nebraska Headquarters.
Most of the collections are out of public view and in special storage, however, the archivist and curators at both History Nebraska and the University Archives will be opening the doors for a series of tours.
“Night at the Archives” will feature rare and unique items on display such as rarely seen highlights from the Manuscript, Photograph, Government, Library and Audiovisual Collection; behind the scene tours of the archival stacks and Reference Room; demos of the digital imaging lab and audiovisual digital lab; sneak peaks of early maps of Nebraska; historic mugshots from the Omaha Police Court and original glass plate negatives from the legendary Solomon Butcher Collection; and an opportunity to meet the curators and archivists.
Refreshments will be available.
