A new meeting room celebrating the university’s Big Ten Conference membership is now open in the Nebraska Union.
The space, located in the southeast corner of the building’s first floor, was home to a bank from the 1970s to 2015. Work began on repurposing the space after Union Bank and Trust Company opted to create a new banking space near the north entrance to the Nebraska Union.
The Big Ten name was selected by the Nebraska Union Advisory Board decided to recognize and celebrate Nebraska’s membership in the Big Ten Conference, said Ryan Lahne, senior associate director of the Nebraska Unions.
The Big Ten Room is a small, boardroom-style meeting space for up to 14 individuals. The space features a decorative ceiling border that pays tribute to peer institutions in the Big Ten Conference.
The design is similar to recent renovations to Nebraska Union meeting rooms. Technology includes two LCD screens with Apple TV and HDMI capabilities.
The Big Ten Room opened for reservations on Nov. 1.
