Take a respite from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and join the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum for a peaceful outing in nature for the Winter Solstice Dec. 20 — the longest night of the year — with two hikes at Prairie Pines Nature Preserve, 3100 N. 112th St., Lincoln.
The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum will host two Winter Solstice hikes at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Following both outings, hikers will gather in Prairie Pines main house to warm up with a cup of hot cider or cocoa.
Tickets for either hike are $5 per person (children age 5 and under free). Proceeds benefit NSA’s tree planting, garden making and environmental education work all across the state.
