Nebraska Space Law Week prepares to go virtual in 14th year

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Space, Cyber and Telecommunications Law program will hold its annual conference, Nebraska Space Law Week, virtually from Sept. 27 to Oct. 1. Registration is available here.

The event, now in its 14th year, traditionally has been held in Washington, D.C., and featured faculty-authored white papers, invite-only government-industry round tables, public sessions, and partnerships with leading think tanks and agencies.

The 2021 virtual conference will include daily substantive webinars, open to all, on modern space law challenges. Participants can register for as many sessions as interest them. All sessions are free.

Panels topics will include:

  • Commercial Space: What’s Next for Regulatory Reform?

  • The American Society of International Law Space Law Interest Group Presents the World Speaks Space Series: Africa

  • Spectrum and Space Activities: Future Challenges and Opportunities

  • Artemis Accords: Expanding and Implementing the Accords & Their Impact on Space Law

  • “What About Everyone Else?” The Law of Armed Conflict and Neutrality and Proportionality in Space: Protecting Neutrals and Civilians in Space.

The virtual model will allow the conversations on the challenges humanity faces in space to be accessible to individuals across the world. The Space, Cyber, and Telecommunications Law program is dedicated to furthering the conversation, even in the face of unprecedented times, at no charge.

The program does look forward to a return to an in-person conference in 2022.

The Space, Cyber and Telecommunications Law program is part of the university’s College of Law. Learn more about the program here. For more information about the program, Space Law Week or the conference, contact Joshua Redwine, program coordinator, at joshua.redwine@unl.edu.
