The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Executive Education program is hosting a certificate program four Power Lunches in May and June. Led by College of Business faculty members, the programs are designed to help professionals fulfill their training needs with a short time commitment.
“As business professionals advance in their careers, they need additional skills to deal with their new challenges,” said Emre Unlu, associate professor of finance and director of the executive education program. “The commonality across all of our programs is a highly interactive and practical learning environment. Certificate program participants find our learning environment engaging and directly relevant to their daily tasks.”
Certificate Programs
Leadership Excellence: May 10-12, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Nebraska Innovation Campus, 2021 Transformation Drive. This three-day program equips managers in leadership positions, or those seeking greater leadership roles, with key skills and tools to effectively lead and manage in today’s environment. Participants will learn adaptive leadership tools, how to use positive leadership and psychological capital to develop strong teams, and the importance of stakeholder buy-in for creating change.

Innovation: The Key to Your Organization’s Survival: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17 at Noah’s Event Venue, 17121 Marcy St., Omaha. Companies are faced with continuous pressure to be innovative. They must also innovate in a variety of areas: product development, customer service, marketing and employee engagement. However, the necessary components to driving innovation are also counter intuitive to organizations that have been able to scale successfully. The mechanisms to drive consistency and scalability often conflict with processes needed to foster innovation. Samuel Nelson, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and assistant professor of practice in management, will discuss how organizations can strive to find the right balance between these two competing pressures.
Navigating the Complexity of Diversity and Inclusion: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 24 at Nebraska Innovation Campus. Are you looking for ways to enhance organizational effectiveness in the diversity and inclusion domain? Do you wonder why diversity and inclusion outcomes may not fully reach personal and organizational expectations? Gwendolyn Combs, associate professor of management and diversity and inclusion scholar, will discuss the obvious and hidden complexities of difference in the workplace when considering these questions. Participants will consider perspectives that can re-direct organizational thinking regarding diversity and inclusion implementation and sustainability strategies. This presentation furthers understanding of this dynamic environment and provides an innovative framework for obtaining more effective diversity and inclusion outcomes.

Identifying, cultivating and retaining talent to fill roles that differentially contribute to a firm’s competitive advantage are key to a firm’s success. Jenna Pieper, assistant professor of management, will lead you through a model of talent management regarding high-potentials and high-performers in today’s dynamic environment.
