Nacoste to discuss fostering respect in diverse college classrooms

Rupert Nacoste, professor of psychology at North Carolina State University, will present a lecture on embracing diversity in education from 2 to 3:30 p.m. March 13 in the Nebraska Union, Colonial Rooms A and B.

The lecture, “Teaching College in the Age of Neo-Diversity,” will examine how professors can manage diversity tensions that can arise from teaching college courses and how to foster respect in conversations among students.

For the past 45 years, Nacoste has worked as a scholar and activist on diversity issues and interpersonal and intergroup relationships. He is also the author of “Taking on Diversity: How We Can Move From Anxiety to Respect.”

A reception from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. will immediately follow the lecture. Those interested in attending should register in advance.
