Moore to speak about career in Nebraska politics Oct. 30

The Department of Political Science will host "Reflections on a Career in Nebraska Politics: A Fireside Chat with Scott Moore" at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 in the Chimney Rock room of the Nebraska Union. The event is free and open to the public, and undergraduate student Luke McDermott will moderate.

Scott Moore represented the 24th district in the Nebraska Legislature from 1987 to 1994 and then served two terms as Nebraska’s Secretary of State from 1994 to 2000. An alumnus, he served in and continues to support the Legislative Page program.

After his political career, he served as Sr. Vice President for Corporate Relations and Chief Administrative Officer for Union Pacific and a lobbyist with Edwards Westerhold Moore.

McDermott is a senior majoring in political science, economics and history. He recently spoke on a panel exploring the legacy of the U.S. Civil War and won a 2024-26 Voyager Scholarship for Public Service in August.
