The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s MLK Week celebration will feature week-long opportunities for service, education and conversation.
The university will honor the legacy of the iconic civil rights leader with a series of community service and service events Jan. 23-27. This year’s theme is “The fierce urgency of now.” The celebration will offer events for students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the Lincoln community.
Huskers are invited to volunteer throughout the week, starting on Jan. 23. Volunteers can register online.
“This year, we are partnering with five nonprofits that are providing students, staff and faculty with service opportunities. Each day will feature a different nonprofit organization that individuals can volunteer at between 10 a.m. and noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.” said Andrew Brown, assistant director of community engagement and sub-committee chair for the Week of Service, MLK Week committee.

Huskers will have the opportunity to deliver food to seniors located throughout Lincoln.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to organize a food pantry and distribute food to community members.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to assemble hunger kits filled with rice, beans and parsley.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to organize food and distribute food to community members.
