The new film, “Minari,” will open March 19 at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.
Led by arresting performances from Steven Yeun and Yeri Han, “Minari” offers an intimate and heart-wrenching portrait of family and assimilation in 1980s America. The film follows a Korean-American family that moves to a tiny Arkansas farm in search of their own American Dream. The family home changes completely with the arrival of their sly, foul-mouthed, but incredibly loving grandmother. Amidst the instability and challenges of this new life in the rugged Ozarks, “Minari” shows the undeniable resilience of family and what really makes a home.
This program is being presented with the support of the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment. “Minari” is showing at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center March 19 through April 1.
Continuing to show this week are “Nomadland” and “The Father.” Show times are available online, by consulting your newspaper, or by calling the Ross’ film information line at 402-472-5353.
