Internal search begins for director for faculty engagement and well-being

Growing vaccination rates and limited on-campus spread of COVID-19 are allowing the University of Nebraska–Lincoln to return to a random mitigation testing strategy.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion is seeking internal applications and nominations for the position of director for faculty engagement and well-being.

The director for faculty engagement and well-being is a two-year appointment that will report to the vice chancellor for diversity and inclusion.

A five-member committee made up of faculty and staff has been formed to guide the search. Nominations and questions should be sent to diversity@unl.edu. The committee will begin reviewing applications April 19.

The group is chaired by Rodrigo Franco Cruz, faculty ombud and professor of veterinary medicine and biomedical sciences; Simanti Banerjee, associate professor of agricultural economics; Sydney Brown, assistant director of the Center for Transformative Teaching; Margaret Huetll, assistant professor of history; and Francisco Muñoz-Arriola, associate professor of biological systems engineering.

The position will serve as a leader in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and fulfill the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence by:

  • Collaborating with the director for faculty diversity and inclusion on issues related to climate, culture and eliminating institutional barriers to inclusive excellence
  • Developing and building resources on promising DEI practices and tools for supporting and retaining marginalized and underrepresented faculty
  • Partnering with centers, colleges and departments to identify and develop projects and partnerships that bolster faculty and academic inclusive excellence in teaching, research and service

Those interested must complete an application and submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae and names and contact information for professional references.
