The Center for Transformative Teaching is again hosting an Institute for Online Teaching.
The institute, formerly known as the Summer Institute for Online Teaching, has been running since 2002 and has guided hundreds of instructors through challenges and benefits to using online teaching and learning formats.
“For summer 2022, we removed the backward design element so we could focus more on best practices for course delivery,” said Amy Ort, instructional designer at the CTT. “This means we were able to add a lot of new content, including accessibility and inclusive teaching, feedback techniques, assessment strategies, and collaborative learning.”
Several instructional designers at the center, who support faculty year-round with course design, start prepping for the institute in the fall semester, making sure to have the most up-to-date information and resources.
“There’s a little bit of something for everyone,” said Julia Remsik Larsen, an instructional designer for the center. “Participants who will get the greatest benefits from the institute are ones who already have some teaching experience and are translating that experience to the online space.
The institute will start the last week of May and continue through the middle of June. Registration is open through 5 p.m. May 16. Learn more or register to participate in the Institute for Online Teaching.
