Derek Branch, a defensive back with Husker football and senior management major in the College of Business, posted a tribute about the impact Jack Hoffman made on Husker Nation and brain cancer research. Hoffman, who was celebrated nationwide in 2013 after he ran for a touchdown in Nebraska football’s spring game, died Jan. 15 after a 14-year battle with brain cancer. He was 19. Adam Erickson, a doctoral student in materials engineering, adjusts a nitrogen-vacancy scanning probe in Abdelghani Laraoui’s lab. The device was used as part of an international research effort that made a discovery that could expand the materials used in next-generation, energy-efficient memory and logic devices. Husker bowlers Jillian Martin and Shannon Pluhowsky participated with Team USA in the International Bowling Federation World Cup, earning gold medal honors.
