Huskers and students from North Star High School are hosting a free community event 6:30 to 8 p.m. April 18 at the Midwest African Museum of Art, Culture and Resource Center. The event will feature a discussion on immigration and refugee resettlement in Lincoln.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will include a sampling of North African foods, tour of the museum, and panel presentation from students who will be presenting research on local immigration and refugee resettlement activities.
Seth Mock, founder of the museum, will also speak about his vision for the facility and his personal experiences moving to Lincoln.
The purpose of this event is to share stories, build community and create cross-cultural dialogue between students and community members interested in immigration and refugee resettlement. It is part of Husker Writers program, a public writing collaboration that involves secondary and university students in meaningful writing beyond the classroom.
