In response to coursework going to remote access, University Housing has released instructions for students seeking to move out of campus residence halls.

The move comes after the University of Nebraska–Lincoln announced that, to help mitigate spread of the COVID-19 virus, all classes are canceled March 16-20 and will shift to remote access options after spring break (March 21-29) on March 30. The March 12 announcement included an encouragement for students to return to permanent residences to further limit personal interaction on campus.

“We urge all students to make the choice that is best for their personal safety,” housing officials said in an email to students. “We know many of you have questions about financial implications and we hope to address those issues soon.”

The residence halls and dining services will remain open throughout the semester.

Students wishing to move out of the residence halls must complete an express checkout form that has been posted on room doors. The form notifies housing of the decision to stay on campus or move out prior to the end of the semester. There is no deadline to complete the form.

All campus residence halls scheduled to close during spring break will remain open. From March 16-29, dining services will offer brunch and dinner meals at select locations. During that same time, Herbie’s Markets will be open limited hours.
