A Hausmann Construction team lowers the pillar of a historic column onto an awaiting trailer on May 12. All 24 of the columns which have stood on the east side of Memorial Stadium for 86 years, were removed the week of May 10 to make way for the Huskers' $155 million athletics complex project.

The columns — which originally stood at the entrance of Omaha's Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railway Station — were moved into storage and will return to campus in the future. A new site is being determined and will be announced. All 24 of the columns (and university's original iron gates, which also stood at the site) were successfully removed.
